According to the newest CNN poll of polls, Barack Obama’s lead over John McCain is at its highest point during this cycle. Taking an average of six new surveys, Obama currently holds an 8-point advantage over his Republican rival, 50-42, with the remaining 8% still undecided.
On that point, I have a hard time understanding how someone can still be undecided. I cannot think of two more opposite candidates; Obama and McCain seem to agree on practically nothing other than the sky is blue and we live in America. Oh, and Bush is bad – well, McCain agrees on that sometimes.
How much more must be said and done before people just make their decision? McCain’s platform is essentially a conservative’s dream, while Obama speaks to the liberals of America in a way that recent Democratic candidates have not. With Wednesday’s debate looming ahead, I have to think that we will see these "undecided" voters dwindle.
Regardless, Obama holds a commanding lead and barring a catastrophic surprise for his campaign, seems poised to be quite happy come November 5th.
