Working with Safety should be the attitude of people,’ said Mr. PC Das, Joint Director (Factories and Boilers), Orissa during the closing ceremony of 39th National Safety Week at Vedanta Aluminium Limited, Lanjigarh. Vedanta Aluminium observed National Safety Week from March 4 to March 10, 2010 in order to build awareness about occupational health and safety among its employees and workers. Mr. Bibhu Prasad, Assistant Director (Factories and Boilers) attended the program as Guest of Honor and Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of VAL chaired the program.
Mr. Das, who was Chief Guest of the program also made presentation on importance of safety for industrial growth. Senior Management Team member, project managers and safety managers of the company attended the session. In his concluding remark Dr. Mukesh Kumar said “Safety, Health and Environment are always given priority for maintaining Safety parameters at all workplaces.”
In order to increase awareness about occupational safety and health, the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department of Vedanta Aluminium organized Essay competitions and Poster competition etc among the employees and other participants. Winners of the competition were awarded prize during the closing ceremony. Dr. RC Rout, Head (HSE) thanked the Guests for their valuable input.
During the safety week, special training program on different subjects such as road safety, fire safety and emergency preparedness were organized. Safety posters with slogans are displayed at several work sites. On the opening day a rally was conducted by the employees.
