much awaited showers for respite in the late evening. Abrupt rise in mercury,
shortage of water supplies and frequent power cuts have had forced commoners to
a situation of anger. Protests against concerned departments had been the
routine of the people. With much needed showers tonight has provided a sigh of
relief.
Chief Metrological Officer, Dr M. K Khushu said that showers
were due to small time wave from Western disturbances. Dr. Khushu informed that
it had. He forecasted cloudy day tomorrow and consequently respite from heat.
He stated as per the metrological system installed readings are upto mark and
expectedly new system is being brought by tomorrow to get installed with which
accurate observation would be obtained.
Earlier, afternoon mild showers on Saturday did not brought
much-needed respite from hot weather conditions for
the morning and people were expecting complete rainfall any time in the day.
About 5 pm dust storm started which followed slight rain showers. Many came out
of their homes to enjoy the pleasant conditions. The day time temperature was
also slightly lower than the previous days. Met officials attributed that to
showers in hills.
“It is the dust storm or winds which stop it raining” one
old citizen Kanta Devi said and added that this summer the season started late
but abruptly that is why people felt heat. She said hot season usually begins
from mid April and rises gradually till June last. Meanwhile, today’s
temperature was recorded at 37.2 degree Celsius, Met officials informed.
