Recently, it is revealed that the state of Ohio is having its own incident of voting issues at the polls. This incident comes from Cincinnati, Ohio. The incident stems from the confusion of standards for identification.
So far, some of the judges at the polling precincts are confused in regards to an error of the provisional ballots. The confusion stems from whether or not drivers’ licenses with outdated addresses are valid identifications or not.
“They are nervous, so they have them vote by provisional ballot,” explains Sally Krisel, the director of the Hamilton County Board of Elections. So far, Krisel assures that driver’s licenses with outdated addresses are still valid proof.
Overall, driver’s licenses with outdated addresses are nothing to worry about. As a result, provisional ballots are not needed in this regard. Still, it has sparked quite the confusion.
In Ohio, provisional ballots are used when identification cannot be verified. But, official ballots are counted first. Provisional ballots are counted afterwards.
While this looks like a problem that can and will be solved soon, it does count somewhat as a voting issue at the polls.
