It was not long ago when Democratic Governor of Ohio Ted Strickland had removed himself as a possibility of being a VP running mate to presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. However, Strickland said that it did not mean he would not pledge support to Obama.
Strickland said that his support with Obama is still there and that he will campaign for him. While in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday night, Strickland addressed a crowd with the prediction that Ohio will once again be the tipping scale of the election. He said that this time, it will tip in the favor of Obama.
At the Ohio Democratic Party’s dinner, Strickland said that he would be delivering a message from former Democratic frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. Strickland had supported Clinton during the primary contest.
“Barack Obama is the nominee of our party. He is a bright, committed, energizing young leader,” Strickland addressed. Strickland also explains he met with Obama while in Chicago, Illinois. He reaffirmed his pledge to work vigorously for Ohio.
Then he would ask the crowd at the dinner: “Aren’t you really, really, really angry with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney?”
Democratic Governor of Kansas Kathleen Sebelius, was one of the governors attending the dinner. The state of Kansas has mainly been a red state. Sebelius explains that the path to the White House is unlocked only through the state of Ohio.
On issues that Ohioans care about, Sebelius explains that Obama has presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain outclassed.
However, it seems to be contradictory to the electoral map drawn up by Obama campaign manager David Plouffe. Plouffe said that both Florida and Ohio are not necessary requirements to win the White House. However, Plouffe said that victories in both Ohio and Florida would cement Obama’s victory this November. In a nutshell, Plouffe’s strategy is not to be dependent on one or two states.
However, the Republican National Committee (RNC) fired back and saying that the voters will reject Obama come this November. It is regardless on who endorses and speaks out for him.
In a nutshell, Strickland had made his pledge to Obama.
