After the government took a tough stand and began cracking down, the striking officers of state-run oil companies withdrew their 2- day old strike that had crippled fuel supplies across the country. The full fuel supplies will resume in all places by Monday .Most of the petrol pumps of IndianOil and Bharat Petroleum had run dry due to the strike and cities across the country were limping on fuel supplies from Hindustan Petroleum.
The strikers were demanding higher pay hikes than what was recommended by the government. They refused to withdraw the strike call even after the government had set up a committee under Chidambaram to look into their grievances and take a view in 30 days.
