A brand new stadium for an old traditional college bowl game. The new stadium-Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the bowl game the 2010 AT&T Cotton Bowl the 74th.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys and Ole Miss Rebels squared off today for only the second time, the last time was in 2004 when the two teams met and now New York Giant QB Eli Manning led the Rebels to a 31-28 Cotton Bowl win.
Oklahoma was appearing in today’s bowl game for their seventh bowl appearance in the last eight years, Ole Miss was appearing in their 33rd bowl game.
The first half of play offered no offense so at the half it was 7-0 Ole Miss on a 86 yard run by Dexter McCluster. Ole Miss had plenty of scoring opportunities but could not put any more points on the board.
In the second half Nathan Stanley replaced Jevan Snead at QB for Ole Miss after Snead was shaken up but only played one series and Stanley had an incomplete pass and an interception. Meanwhile the Cowboys scored to tie the game with a one yard toss, Keith Toston to Wilson Youman.
Game tied 7-7 after three quarters with no offense once again and missed opportunities from both teams. Must give credit to both defenses with goal line stands fumble recoveries and interceptions.
The fourth quarter saw much of the same with Dexter McCluster scoring on a two yard run for ole Miss and a 14-7 lead. The defense once again came to bear as Ole Miss recovered a fumble and ran for a TD with little more than three minutes remaining in the game. Patrick Trahan recovered the fumble and ran 36 yards for the score and Ole Miss was up 21-7.
