he online charity auctions which have been busy raising money in time for the Olympics are set to end today.
Fundraising activities by Lenovo have included large donations to charities such as the Sichuan earthquake relief and the International Red Cross.
The final charity event was the sale of a ‘Clouds of Promise’ laptop – inspired by the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch – on the auction site eBay.
Deepak Advani, senior vice president of Lenovo, said: ‘These auctions offer an exciting way to count down the last days before the start of the Olympic Games. Our technology helps bridge the physical gaps across different parts of the world, and Lenovo’s goal is to do the same thing with social investments.’
All of the funds raised by the auctions have so far been distributed through the company’s Hope Fund to selected charities.
Lenovo, based in Beijing, is the world’s fourth largest personal computer manufacturer.
