Srinagar, October 13(Scoop News) – JK Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde Saturday reviewed prevailing law and order and security situation in the State at a Combined Unified Headquarters meeting here.
Matters relating to maintenance of peace, upgrading vigil and curbing incidents aimed at disturbing tranquillity and threatening innocent grass root public representatives were discussed threadbare in the meeting.
Issues relating to infiltration, security cover to panchayat members in vulnerable areas and arrangements put in place to conduct Block Development Council election were also discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Union Home Secretary, R. K. Singh, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt. Gen. K. T. Parnaik, , Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, Principal Secretary Home, Iqbal Khandey, Director General Police, Ashok Prasad, GOC 15 Corps, GOC 14 Corps, GOC 16 Corps, GOC 09 Corps, Director General BSF, Director General CRPF, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas and Additional Director General Police Law and Order, K. Rajindra.
The meeting was also attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pradeep Gupta, Additional Director General CRPF, IGP Kashmir, IGP Jammu, IGP CID J&K, Additional Commissioner SB, Special Director IB and Media Advisor, Bharti Vaid.
Later, in a separate meeting with the Union Home Minister, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister discussed various outstanding issues with the Centre which included transmission and distribution projects under PMRP, funding of Baghliar phase II, accelerating pace of Udhan and Himayat schemes. The Chief Minister stressed on additional package of assistance to the State Government for subsidizing additional LPG cylinders for the consumers of the state.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for approval by the central government to the proposal of the State Government for enhancing assistance package to the Kashmiri Pandits.
