Omar’s remarks raises storm in house, BJP, panthers, JSM MLA marshaled out, injured in ruckus

Srinagar, October 7 –A day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opened up pandoars’ box by saying that accession of Jammu and Kashmir has taken place with India but the State has not merged with the country BJP ,Panthers Party and independent MLA from Bisnah  lodged a strong protest in the state assembly and were later  marshaled out as they tried to storm the well in protest,Kashmir Independent Press (KIP) said in a news Bulletin.

Complete panedmonium prevailed in the house for some time as opposition MLA’s jumped from their seats, trooped in to the well and made attempts to approach the speakers chair while shouting slogans against the Omar’s remarks.

As the situation went out of control the speaker Mohd Akbar Lone summoned marshals in the house and directed them to escort the protesting legislators.
 
 In the melee, a Panthers Party member and three BJP members — Jugal Kishore, Sukhnandan and Lal Chand — were injured. senior BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta  led the boycott and announced that  for the rest of the session the BJP legislature party has decided to boycott  the Assembly which will end on October 9.
Ashok Khajuria termed the action against the party MLA’s as one of the darkest chapters.Khajuria said when the state of J&K is an integral part of India why Chief Minister chose to comment that only its accession has taken place and not merger.
 
  Winding up his speech on Wednesday Omar had taken a dig in an apparent reference to the saffron party’s stand that there was no dispute to be resolved with regard to Jammu and Kashmir, Omar had said if that would have been the case, there would have been no need for the Simla agreement, Lahore declaration and talks in Agra and Delhi.

Omar had also said that "Kashmir was an outstanding issue which needs to be resolved. It is a political issue and cannot be addressed through development, employment or good governance only".

The BJP also raised its objections to the statement made by Omar where he stated that the merger of the state of Jammu and Kashmir is yet to take place as only accession had taken place as per an agreement with the Government of India.

Panthers party MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia,Yashpal Kundal, JSM MLA Ashwani Sharma were also marshaled out of the Assembly as they joined the protests against Omar’s statement in the house.State BJP Chief Shamsher Singh Manhas and BJP National executive member and former chief Prof Nirmal Singh also condemned the action against the BJP MLA’s and reiterated  their party’s stand on the issue that J&K is and will remain an integral part of India.(KIP)
