LAPH arranged one day convention LSO & HRMC.
CHITRAL: EEAJP a project of Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights funded by Trocaire arranged a one-day convention for Local Support Organizations (LSO) and Human Rights Monitoring Committees (HRMC) at Chitral. All male and female members of LSO and HRMC, human rights activists and social workders working in the entire district attended the convention. Niaz Ali Shah Chairman Board of Directors LAPH welcome to all guests and stakeholders. Who also briefed the stakeholders about the aim and objectives and progress of LAPH. Ms Gulshad Manager Monitoring & Evaluation briefed the stakeholders regarding women rights. She said that women folk of Chitral usually depriving from their basic rights especially there is great discriminations in the rights of their property, education etc. She said that we raising women issues through different platforms and though media. As well as LAPH arranging seminars, workshops and conventions at different location to create awareness among the masses regarding women and human rights especially we focus on women rights to empower them. Chairman LAP Human Rights said that we trailing cases of oppressed and helpless women in different courts free of cost as well as supporting widows to rehabilitate them. Besides it we have open three free legal aid centers at Chitral, Booni and Drosh where poor women can submit their cases free of cost. He said that LAPH also supporting poor students for their high education to minimize dropt out ratio.
During the working in the session the stakeholders alleged that women are often harassing by drivers at Bus stop and there is great discriminations in sons and daughters education by their mothers. Ms Zaina and Said Gul from Kalash community proposed for conducting a sensitization workshop for Shikhan community of Kalash valley where women folk are totally deprived from their basic human rights and treating as petty generation. The stake holders were emphasized to must inform the local people regarding your activity and motivate them to raise voice and inform any HRMC at their jurisdiction in case of any human rights violation. The case forwarded by HRMC would be treated on priority basis and would be trial free of cost. Niaz Ali Shah stressed upon all stakeholders that every one is a human rights activist and we should to fight for human rights and to oppose of any violation. Main objective of the convention was to sensitize all stakeholders comprising over male and female members of LSOs & HRMC regarding human rights especially women rights and to persuaded them to forward such cases to LAPH office of any violation and mutual coordination for eradicating human rights violation. A large number of male and female stakeholders participated in the convention and demanded for increasing its duration and continuation of such fruitful gathering. All the stakeholders exchanged and shared their experiences and briefed the participants in their presentations. They thanked LAPH for conducting this useful convention.
