District Level Stakeholders workshop on Dispute Resolution Council district Chitral.

CHITRAL: A day long workshop for district level stakeholders held on dispute resolution council at a local hotel. The workshop was held under strengthening Rule of Law a project of UNDP (United Nation Development Program) supported by European Union and was organized by Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP). Addressing to the ceremony Shahzada Iqtidarul Mulk said that community based dispute resolution council has been established in each police station of Chitral where volunteers group working for resolving of petty disputes among the different groups.
He said that poor people cannot approach courts, Katchery and police station so this is an alternate mediation center for solving their issues on table talk and dialogues. He said that our courts procedure is very lengthy and police cannot give any relief to a party without court verdict. that is why DRC established to save money and time of poor people. He said that main objective of DRC establishing is to solve problems without torturing any one.
Mulve Masood Ahmad highlighted importance of compromise and mediation in the light of Quran and Sunnah. Azmat Esa former public prosecutor said that in police act of 2016 IGP have been empowered to solve petty issues at police station level. He said that DRC having 21 members from all segment and they solve public issues on merit basis. A question Answer session was also held who were responded by Azmat Esa and other members of panel.
Rahila Kanval advocate legal Advisor of LEP, Shahzdai Gulfam community activist, Bibi Khunza village councilor, Musrat Bibi social activist, Niaz A Niazi Advocate and other hailed this program and termed it a relief for depressed, oppressed and helpless people
At last Tariq Ahmad district program Manger thanked all stakeholders and participants of the workshop. A large number of people comprising over government officials, lawyers, social workers and representatives of civil societies participated in the workshop.
