A feeling of such sadness, anger and contempt has been laden on the citizens of Mumbai that I find it absolutely necessary to write something on the events that are happening here in Mumbai since the last 32hrs or otherwise, I may never be at peace with myself.
Hooked onto the television set with dazed eyes, heavy heart and rage just getting the better of me I am one of those many who are at this hour helpless. Mumbai/Bombay whatever you call it, to me is a place I call home and it has been invaded mercilessly and heartlessly.
Television sets are roaring with minute-to-minute news on the operations carried out by army officials/commandos which to be is a technological boon that kills the debate “television a boon or a curse”. But that is not all; news channels for example ‘Times Now’ put together a discussion of renowned heads from the city yesterday night to get a view point of several citizens of Mumbai. It was an excellent discussion that not only resounded the emotional sentiments but in the midst of a chaotic situation loudly sent out the message that we Mumbaikars are not to be taken lightly either by the terrorists or the politicians who treat us like guinea pigs for their own gains.
Mumbai a cosmopolitan city, a city with diversity in race, religion and heritage, cannot and will not be held ransom to a handful of terrorists either today or in future. And what proves that or makes me say it on paper so confidently is the ongoing NSG operation. Police, Army and Naval together are not only tackling the situation with intelligence and wit but also with a sense of assurance that keeps me or all of us at ease.
I have confidence in my country and my people that we will see through this and more over I have confidence in my faith. In the midst of all of it, we still stand with our heads high proud to be an Indian, proud to be in Mumbai.
