Opening of Kalash valey road urged

CHITRAL: Opening of Kalash valley road urged otherwise people will came on roads. Addressing press conference residents of Kalash valley comprising on both Muslim and Kalash minority elites members of Tanzeemi Tahreeki Amal said that Kalash valley having international importance by virtue of its unique culture. They said that a large number of tourists including foreigners visiting Kalash valley but due to damaging of road their number is decreasing day by day. They said that deadline of 5th November is extending by 75 hours until 9th November. They warned that if the government failed to blacktop this road and not handed over 15 kilometers Shekhanandeh road to Communication and Works (C &W) department so they will continue their protest and will came on roads. They said that millions of feet infrastructure timber (deodar) is supplying from Kalash valley every year to down districts causing for revenue for government. But even than its road are in very dilapidated condition. They demanded from chief minister KPK for opening of kalash road, blacktopping and widening Bumborat road and handing over Shekhanandeh road to C &W so as to boost tourism at Kalash valley and give relief to its residences. Abdul Majeed Qureshi, Rafi Advocate, Nabaig Kalash advocate, Zahid Alam and other spoke to the press conference.
Opening of Lawari tunnel demanded by former provincial Minister.
CHITRAL: Former provincial Minister and district president of Pakistan People’s Party Saleem Khan and other PPP leaders including Burhan Shah advocate, Zahir Shah urged on the federal government for early opening of Lawari tunnel for traffic. Addressing to a huge press conference former provincial minister said that main road of Chitral has been blocked for all type of vehicular traffic at Lawari top due to heavy snowfall as well as National Highway Authority and Korean construction company staff not allow passenger to travel inside the Lawari tunnel. They said that a large number of passengers have been strained at Dir upper and Ziarat waiting for opening of Lawari top or tunnel they facing great hardships because of paying double prices for hotel room and food. They said that more than 2 lacs Chitrali living in down districts who frequently travelling to their native town but due to closing of main road they also strained across the tunnel. As well as scheduled air flights of PIA also suspended due to bad weather. They also demanded for restoring of previous schedule of PIA flights to address this problem. They demanded for extension in last date for submission of application at public service commission because due to disturbing of communication system candidates from Chitral could not submitted their applications timely. They demanded for opening of Lawari tunnel 6 hours on daily basis. They warn that if the tunnel was not open for traffic they will set in as strike against the authorities until fulfillment of their demand. They appeal to Chief Minister for intervention in this matter and persuade ministry of communication for opening of Lawari tunnel for giving relief to Chitral people because edible things are finished and people will be faced starvation if the road was not opened immediately.
