Chances are, you didn’t plan for this. Between school, maybe an after school job, the boyfriend, and anything else you have going on, now you have a huge responsibility and you just got a giant wrench thrown into the gears of your life. Can you handle this? Not on your own. Luckily, there are several ways to get you any help you need to take some of the stress away, because being stressed out all the time is one of the worst possible things for you right now.
First, go to your local women’s clinic and talk to them. If the positive test you have was done at home, they can give you a real pregnancy test and either confirm or deny the one you already have. When it comes back positive, they can talk to you and give you lists of places and people that you could go to for help. Medicaid and WIC are probably the first places they’ll send you to, and then you’ll probably get a list of doctors in your area you can go to and a list of programs and services that are offered near you.
After you get set up with a doctor and insurance, at your first prenatal appointment the nurses will probably give you a bag of freebies like pregnancy magazines, books, samples of formula and diapers, and a book’s worth of pamphlets for information on everything from quitting smoking to services that the hospital can provide for you if you need help.
When it comes to needing the money to buy things for the baby, there are several places like secondhand shops and thrift stores that always have a good supply of baby items. Babies need so much, but they also outgrow everything within a matter of months, so it doesn’t take any trouble at all to find small things like this. As far as getting the money, if a part-time job doesn’t work out or isn’t enough, there are several opportunities in newspapers and magazines that offer work-from-home jobs specifically for pregnant women and new moms who can’t go to a job every day.
It may seem like you’re stuck right now and that there’s no way you could ever get through this, but there is always a way, and there is always someone willing to help you if you look hard enough
