The Orissa government has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to rush to the riot-torn district to verify allegation made by local tribals against the CRPF jawans, official sources said. But at the same time govt. has said ‘No’ to withdrawl of CRPFs from the district.
TheKui Kalyan Samiti, a frontal tribal organization in the district had alleged that the para-military force jawans were misbehaving with the women and taking away their vegetables and chicken. They demanded withdrawal of the force from rural pockets of Kandhamal district.

On demand to remove M S Padhi, newly appointed special administrator in Kandhamal, the chief secretary Ajit Tripathy said he was appointed on the basis of his experience in the district.
“The administrator cannot be removed on the basis of demand made by some people,” he said.
The DGP would look in to the problems of tribals and their grievances against the CRPF jawans deployed to maintain peace in Kandhamal, sources said.
Though there had been no report of violence in Kandhamal district for last 13 days, miscreants had hacked a CRPF jawan to death at a village under Raikia police station area.
While DGP Manmohan Praharaj said police was probing into the killing of the CRPF jawan, tribal leaders claimed that he could have been killed after misbehaving with women.
