DGP of Orissa police has formally inaugurated a unit to check human trafficking. Over the years, illegal trafficking of women, children to various parts of India and abroad has come to be recognized as a major crime. Often, minor children and women were found getting trafficked for sexual and commercial exploitation. They are exploited for various purposes such as servitude, commercial sexual exploitation, forced labor, forced marriage and begging.
Taking note of this DGP of Orissa police set up an integrated anti human-trafficking unit (IAHTU) at the crime branch headquarters in Cuttack. This unit would have state wide jurisdiction.
