School and Mass Communication minister of Orissa, Pratap Jena, is in the dock for breaking the norms of sound pollution. According to a petition, filed by Prasant Dash in the high court of Orissa, the minister had gone to a marriage function on March 11 and influenced the Police to allow playing of loudspeaker of the marriage procession even after 10 P.M. When the police seized the loudspeaker, the minister got it released and as a measure of punishment, transferred one ASI of police.
As per the sound pollution laws, loudspeakers in the marriage procession can not be played after 10 O’Clock in the night. A division of bench of the high court has directed the state home secretary and DG of police to submit a report on this incident by April 16.
