Outbreak of HFMD Could Add To Potential PR Nightmare For Olympics In Beijing

Out of a case of almost 12,000 Chinese that have contracted this virus known as the hand-foot-mouth disease, twenty-six people have already died. However, most of them were children. Within the last few days, the number of cases has dramatically increased. Most of the deaths have taken place in Fuyang City in the Anhui province. So far, virus known as EV-71 has been blamed of the cause of the hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD).

Almost half of the cases of HFMD were reported to be children. The cases of HFMD have taken place in many parts of China. There were almost 1,500 cases in Beijing. Most of those cases were children. The reason that a lot of cases are in children is because they are very vulnerable to it. For the adults, their immune systems are strong enough to fight against it.

Asides from the treatment of North Korean refugees, Tibet, Darfur, and the record of human rights, HFMD could be another thing that looms over China in what could look as another nightmare as it is set to host the Olympic Games this coming August. Things do not seem to bode well for China right now.
