Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Mr. Justice Tariq Pervaiz has said that human rights must be protected and respected.

Addressing inaugural ceremony of Certificate Course in Human Rights at Law College, University of Peshawar on Thursday, he shed light on the essence of human rights and said that it could be classified into fundamental, legal, natural and civil rights among which fundamental rights are given under the constitution while natural rights are those which cannot be given by state and therefore have no boundaries.

He further said that it is very nice to see Law College starting Human Rights Certification courses but it is imperative to invite the common man to know human rights so that they should be acquainted to the public.

He suggested to formulate a committee of the stake holders to see violation of Human Rights and informed the concerned quarters about it.

Chief Justice said that it’s a moment of great honor for him to be Chief Guest in Law College as he himself is a product of this institution.

Coordinator Human Rights Centre Fiaz ur Rehman presented the importance of Human Rights Certificate Course and its importance in Training, Teaching and Research in Human Rights.

He said that the centre was established in 1999 and was fully functional till 2004 and now after a gap of four years, we have started self financed certificate courses in 2009.

 Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar in his address said that Peshawar university administration is fully dedicated in making UoP as hub of academic activities.

Principal Law College Dr. Adnan Sarwar in his speech gave his full commitment to the chief guest and the vice chancellor to make Law College as a stand out institution of the country. 

Registrar University of Peshawar Sherinzada Khattak, Director P&D Prof. Dr. Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Dean faculty of life sciences Prof Dr. Javed and other faculty members along with participants of the course were present on the occasion.
