Oxford University rates the Indian students among the best

The Oxford University considers Indian students among the best in the world and would like more of them joining its campus, the Chancellor Chris Patten has said.

The University which has the alumni like the Indian Prime Minister  Dr.Manmohan Singh, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwallia, has presently 257 Indian students on roll. But it is one third the number of students from China.

Mr.Patten said that the Oxford wants more Indian students because it wants the best in the world to come to Oxford and most of the students are in the Said business school doing their MBA, but he would like to have more Indian students in the social sciences and the humanities both in the under-graduate and post-graduate work.

The Indians despite being lesser in number have won more number of scholarship than the Chinese. Last year, the Indians won 54 different scholarships, including the prestigious Rhodes Scholarships according to an Oxford Journal.The number of scholarships may increase if the University improves its financial position.
