Pakistan bowled out South Africa for 253 on Day One of the first Test at Johannesburg on Friday.
Skipper Graeme Smith, leading the side in his 100th Test as captain, won the toss and elected to bat first.
After negotiating the first hour of play without any damage, South Africa lost both their openers with the score on 46.
Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla resurrected the Proteas innings with a 79-run partnership for the third wicket. However, Kallis soon fell after completing his 58th half-century in Test cricket.
Amla soon followed as he latched on to Younis Khan’s delivery outside off-stump offering a straight chance to Azhar Ali standing at gully.
AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis then combined to add 64 runs for the fifth wicket before both of them also fell in quick succession.
Robin Peterson also followed soon as Mohammad Hafeez got a straighter one to beat the left-handers defence and take the top of off-stump.
While Junaid Khan and Umar Gul troubled the batsmen early in the day with some swing bowling, Mohammad Hafeez joined the party late in the day picking up four wickets to bowl out the hosts.
Although the dangerous Saeed Ajmal went wicketless, all the other bowlers barring Rahat Ali managed to find success.
Hafeez later came out to bat with Nasir Jamshed as Pakistan played out the last two overs of the day without losing a wicket.
