Here the Hamoodur Rahman Commission clearly named the people who had a role in East Pakistan [that broke the country into two parts]. But the result? Some of the culprits silently retired. Some became ministers and ambassadors and some wrote their memoirs in which they defended their acts and also got royalty of their books.
Here all the characters who were involved in forming IJI [Islami Jamhori Ittehad] (Islamic Democratic Alliance) and Mehran Gate Scandal in 1988 are alive except Ghulam Ishaq Khan. Though proofs and judicial witnesses still exist against them, some of them have become consultants in different institutions; some wore the skin of ‘observers of current issues’ and others are sitting in their own think tanks pretending they are worry about the ongoing situation.
Here the Murtaza Bhutto murder case is sleeping in files for 11 years but most of the persons who were held in the case either have been promoted or retired or died. None was punished nor acquitted.
Why the mountains of Kargil were invaded? Which purpose so many soldiers got killed for? Who was the creator of that strategy? All the involved characters are alive with more power and respect. The Kargil Investigation Commission was not let be formed. Had it be formed the result would be nothing as usual.
Who made the strategy of invading the tribes of Waziristan? On whose orders then the tribal leaders were declared as terrorists and then signed agreements with them with much respect and why the agreements were not then fulfilled?
Who funded those leaders of the terrorists in millions and why they started kidnapping and killing of the soldiers after they received the huge payments? And how a mullah [Maulana Fazlullah] with an FM radio in his home threw the whole district in jihad and created a bitter situation while the government was acting as an onlooker? Has any commander, or any Political Agent or any government official taken the responsibility for this? Was there any investigation?
Who provided protection to those who supplied arms to the Red Mosque (Lal Masjid) in Islamabad for seven months? And how the students turned into militants? Then there was a fierce fighting in which more than one hundred people were killed. How was it happened? Was any official or organization responsible? Were all the proofs buried with the dead?
In March 2005, an amount of Rs. 130 millions was lost in Stock Exchange. How the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz completed his term and left without explaining that who removed the record of that ill-fated day and why?
President Musharraf has proudly admitted that the imposing of Emergency on November 03 [2007] was unconstitutional but it was necessary. Which court has the courage to take somoto action against this statement?
The fire brigade clean washed the site in less than two hours after the murder of Benazir Bhutto. President Musharraf has confessed that it was a blunder. It is still unclear whose blunder it was and why there is not any action against them?
President Musharraf says that Benazir Bhutto was killed by her own carelessness. But the Interior Minister said she was hit by a bullet. The spokesman to the Interior Ministry instead said she was killed by the lever of her Land Cruiser. Then they said that the spokesman is an army man so he gave the statement in haste. If it was any other country, the three would have to face the accusation of putting the investigation in the wrong path. But in this country all of them are still working on their posts.
In this country if anyone is accountable, they are [former Chief Justice] Iftikhar Chaudhry and Aitzaz Ahsan who misunderstood the psychology of this system. The people who have rightly understood this system are Baitullah Mehsud and Maulana Fazlullah. So is not Pakistan an interesting country?
