While addressing a joint session of parliament amid applause of parliamentarians President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has announced formation of parliamentary committee to abolish dictatorial 17th amendment and article 58-2B of constitution on Saturday. Members of parliament warmly welcomed him at his arrival; prior to his address members of parliament had clapped for few minutes, to express their joy and approval for his democratic stance. Press gallery was full, heads of Pakistan armed forces including Chief of the Army Staff General Ishfaq Parvez Kyani, foreign dignitaries mostly ambassadors of foreign countries were also present in Parliamentary galleries.
Four years ago dictator Musharaf was disapproved by the same parliament during his speech parliamentarian had shouted slogans against him, and afterwards he never came to address parliament to full fill his constitutional obligation.
President Asif Ali Zardari has emerged as man with high moral values committed to his cause for which he had fought for years, while surrendering his powers, which were concentrated in the office of president by dictator Musharaf. He had also announced approval of new name Puktoonkhwa for NWFP, housing facilities for journalists and more press freedom. In his speech today he had also addressed the issue of poverty and hunger and had announced crop insurance program and Benazir Bhutto support program for the poor segments of society.
Law Minister had revealed on Saturday that 90% of deposed judges are restored back and deposed Chief Justice of Supreme Court Mr. Iftikhar Chaudhary can be restored as Justice of Supreme Court if he is willing to work under present Chief Justice Mr. Abdul Hamid Dogar.
