Overconfident Pakistan made a lousy start in the Twenty-20 match against Scotland. Their batsmen were marching to Pavillion one after the other. Batting first they failed to make use of the Powerplay. They also conceded a maiden in the second over of the game.
Imran Nazir was back in pavillion in 3rd over, while trying to make up for the maiden over with a massive shot, but only to get a thick edge and land in safe hands of Scotish fielder near the ropes.
In 5th over Salman Butt was trapped with a well planned bowling and suitable fielding set up. Hafeez was gone in 8th over, giving a simple return catch to the bowler.
Even after 6 overs (Powerplay) scoring rate was just above 6. The Pakistan batsmen have taken the Scots very lightly and is playing in test-cricket style. It looks like they have no idea whats twenty-20.
Departure of Shoaib Malik was good for Pakistan in 13th over that Afridi’s arrival made an explosive impact on scoring with sixes and fours in the same over. The show lasted only 1 over though. He departed with another simple catch.
Pakistan struggled against the minnows with 9 wickets down to reach 171 in 20 overs. Whatever the final result is, the Scots have been excellent with the bowl and their efforts have to be appreciated.
Overall the conditions dint look like a great day for Pakistan. A huge score was not in books in the match, but the tailenders made it a descent score to defend.
The Scot bowlers have done their job neat and tidy. Now it all depends on their batsmen. Its going to be a close call for Pakistan if they manage to survive early overs.
