Pakistani Intelligence To Assist In Investigating The Mumbai Attack

In the last few days, the people of Mumbai witnessed terror and bloodshed. However, it would seem that the attacks were directed towards Westerners. Apparently, some groups do suspect that this attack is part of a larger anti-Western agenda. Still, it is unknown if the Deccan Mujahideen (the group claiming responsibility) came from another country or homegrown.

Anonymously, officials with British security have said that they were caught off guard. In regards to this surprise attack, spy and intelligence agencies across the world were caught with their pants down.

So far, it is suspected that they came from Pakistan.

In response, Pakistan had warned India not to blame the country. However, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has offered to send the country’s top spy agency chief to help out with the investigation. Also, Pakistan had already condemned the heinous attack that killed many and injured many more.

Gilani has already said that Pakistan is not to blame.

The Indian government believes the terrorists are tied to Pakistani militant groups. However, the Deccan Mujahideen has never appeared on the radar screen. When the group did “appear” on radar, the brutal massacre in Mumbai had taken place.

It was a surprise attack by an unknown group. The militant groups mentioned: the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Jaish-e-Mohammed are linked with Al-Qaeda.

But in the Associated Press article, one British security official had casted doubts that Al-Qaeda may have had something to do with the Mumbai massacre.

Rohan Gunaratna, the author of “Inside Al-Qaeda” said that the core leadership is under 100.

Still, India’s government is still casting suspicion towards Pakistan. In response, Pakistan has denied the allegations and suspicions.
