Palm Beach County, Florida Dealing With ‘Undervotes’ At The Polls

In regards to United States Election Day 2008, Florida can be added to the list of states, let alone East Coast states, that are having voting issues at the polls. Incidents have already been reported in North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Now, Florida can be added to the list.

The latest incident of voting issues at the polls takes place in Palm Beach County, Florida. Florida is one of the crucial battleground states in regards to the US Presidential election between Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona.

In this regard, West Palm Beach is dealing with the problems of “undervotes.” It is defined when machines reject the ballots because the second pages have not been filled out.

So far, this incident looks to be on the part of voter error. For the most part, voting machine failure and rainy weather cannot be blamed for this incident. The blame mainly falls on the voters at the polls.

According to the spokesman for the Palm Beach County Board of Elections, most of the voters are purposely not filling out the second page of the ballot.

For those voting in Palm Beach County, fill out the second page.
