Jammu, April 13, (Scoop News)_The responses of the entire political class In Kashmir valley to the issue of return of Kashmiri Pandits (Hindus) has brought it out glaringly that the spirit of secularism and coexistence is non-existent in its politics, leaders of Panun Kashmir, a premier political outfit of the displaced community, said on Monday.
“The expressions of different segments of Kashmiri leadership, separatist and so called non-separatist, religious and so called moderate, reveal it unambiguously that there exists in Kashmir a milieu which is neither Kashmiri nor Indian but essentially fundamentalist and exclusive in nature”, Dr Agnishekahr and Dr Ajay Chrangoo (both leaders of PK) told media persons during a joint press conference at Jammu, the winter capital of the Himalayan region.
They said called upon all Indians to face the reality that in Kashmir the social and democratic space has been captured by a fundamentalist, totalitarian and religious monolith.
“Pretending otherwise will be very costly because a religious war against India continues unabated from its soil”s,n, they warned.
PK, they said watched with dismay and dejection the speech delivered by Mufti Mohammad Sayed on the issue of return of KP’s. The tone and tenor of his speech was only complimentary to what the likes of Ali Shah Geelani or Yasin Malik had said on the issue.
The speech only reflected a disdain and lack of sensitivity with regard to the expulsion of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir. It also reflected in clear terms that the government was aiming only at a tokenism return without addressing any fundamental issue relating to the genocide and religious cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits.
“We are stunned that the new dispensation of BJP at the centre has chosen to adopt such an approach on the issue of religious cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits and their return which only furthers the designs of those who perpetrated the genocide and those who collaborated in it”, they charged.
PK, the leaders said, “is dismayed that BJP is transforming fast, willfully or out of political naivety, into a over ground support structure for the subversive , fundamentalist and separatist enterprise in Jammu and Kashmir”.
They urged the Government of India to have a fresh look and review its policies before it was too late. The type of democratic process which it evolved in Jammu and Kashmir has only lead to strengthening of those actors and structures in the democratic space which nourish separatism and fundamentalism.
Government of India has to understand soon that patronizing and promoting communalism has only strangulated secularism in the state. Government of India has to also realize that promoting soft-secessionism through the democratic process has only made separatism self sustaining in the state, the PK leaders maintained.
“Creation of a Union Territory of Panun Kashmir North and East of river Jhelum in Kashmir valley for the rehabilitation of entire population of Kashmiri Pandits has become inevitable. No solution less than this is acceptable to them”, both the leaders reiterated their demand.
They further said creation of the idea has become an imperative and historical necessity not only to ensure the permanent reversal of genocide of Kashmiri Pandits but also to stop Kashmir from becoming the new bastion for International Jihad and a sanctuary for Islamist terrorist enterprise.
Among others Prof.O.N.Trisal Sr.leader, Sanjay Moza National Cordinator Panun Kashmir,S.K.Kitchloo Sr.Activist and Omkar Nath Bhat attended the Press Conference.
