Jammu, October 15, (Scoop News)- Panun Kashmir today welcomed the recent move of the United Nations in refusing to accede to the request of Pakistan to intervene in the so called Kashmir issue.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir said that United Nations has consistently refused to mediate in the Kashmir issue in the past and several former General Secretaries including the present Ban Ki Moon have been advising the recalcitrant Pakistan to settle issues with India bilaterally. Pakistan refuses to see the writing on the wall and if any window of opportunity for bilateral talks is available that is also closing fast. He also welcomes the position taken by the Indian representative in the United Nations that Pakistan need to stop the export of terror from the territories under its control into India. The principled stand taken by the Indian representative that terror and talks cannot go together is a clear message to the Pakistan establishment.
Ashwani Kumar was addressing a meeting held in Jammu to take stock of the political developments in context of the UN’s snub of Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. It was among others attended by Virender Raina, National Spokesperson, Upinder Kaul, Kamal Bagati and Vijay Qazi.
He alleged that the State of Pakistan has been pursuing terrorism as an instrument of the state policy for a long time and the time has come for the world to declare it as a rogue nation as it is the epicenter of global terrorism.
Virender Raina, National Spokesperson said that the incessant mortar shelling and gunfire from Pakistan has been dealt very effectively by our valiant security forces. The people on the border displaced as a result of the unprovoked firing by Pakistan need to be given all the succor and support by the government and the civil society at large. Pakistan is trying to divert the attention of the world from its explosive internal situation and the day is not far when it may even break up. In view of Pakistan’s continuous cohabitation with rabid terror outfits, the civilized world needs to completely defang Paksitan of its weapons of mass destruction. The Kashmiri Pandits are the prime sufferers of the Pak-sponsored terror and have undergone genocide, ethnic cleansing and mass exodus in their own country. As a consequence, the issues related to the welfare of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits and the other minorities in the state must take primacy while formulating the policies of the state. In this context, the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs need to be implemented on a priority basis. In so far as the geo-political aspirations of the displaced community are concerned, a separate homeland in Kashmir with free flow of Indian constitution would alone pave the way for their final resettlement.
