Raoul Gustav Wallenberg,born August 4,1912,died according to official Soviet data July 16,1947,was a Swedish diplomat.
At the end of the World War II,Wallenberg led a successful rescue auction of Jews in Hungary.
By handing out temporary Swedish passports and so-called protection of passports to Jews with Swedish connections,he managed to save 20.000 Hungarian Jews from persecution and deportation to labor camps in Germany.
Raoul Wallenberg was arrested in January 15,1945 by Soviet forces captured Budapest,probably suspected as a spy,and was placed in prison in Soviet.
His further fate,and possible death,is still contested.
