Srinagar, November 22, (Scoop News)- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP President, Ms Mehbooba Mufti today said the National Conference and Congress have lost their relevance as a result of their six years of mis-governance and people have made up their mind to punish them in the upcoming assembly elections. She said voting for them is like opting for NOTA option.
“National Conference and Congress have been decimated by the people from the ground. Even nobody is ready to take NC’s mandate to fight elections and none of the senior leaders from Congress is fighting assembly polls which means both these parties have lost their ground and influence among the people,” she said while addressing various public meetings in Devsar assembly constituency in Kulgam district.
Mohammad Sartaj Madni, deputy speaker of legislative assembly and party’s candidate for Devsar constituency was also present there.
Mehbooba said fact is that both the National Conference and Congress are equally responsible for the destruction of the state and now they have resorted to shadowboxing to mislead the people. She said Omar Abdullah had lost the popular support in 2010 and it was only with the backing of Congress that he supervised the killing of innocent in Kashmiris.
Mehbooba said Congress is equal partner to every crime the Omar Abdullah-led government has committed in Jammu & Kashmir over the last six years and its leaders can’t go unscathed and they too will have to answer before the people’s court for their misdeeds. “Congress has been part to every single mistake, be it corruption, land grabbing, scams, scandals, Afzal Guroo’s hanging or the oppression the National Conference-led government unleashed upon the people of Kashmir over the last six years,” she said and appealed the people not to waste their vote by voting to NC or Congress.
Referring to the disruptive tactics employed by the National Conference to scare the people particularly PDP cadres and create an atmosphere of fear on the ground, Mehbooba said the people have made up their mind to participate in the elections to bring change in their lives by replacing the present corrupt regime and system.
She said be it the grenade attack on a peaceful crowd at PDP rally in Kulgam on Friday or firing outside the residence of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, the party’s candidate for Shopian, these are the signs of extreme cowardice and frustration on part of the National Conference which is feeing jittery by the growing popularity and appeal of the PDP among the people of the state. She said such incidents are not only meant to disrupt the ongoing electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir but also aimed at threaten the PDP by the National Conference which is sensing imminent defeat at our hands.
Seeking the support of the people to change the political and governance narrative in Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba said if Jammu and Kashmir has to progress it won’t happen unless people take a lead and make the difference on the ground.
“People’s wholeheartedly support is imperative to take Jammu and Kashmir forward in every parameter of growth and progress,” she said.
Mehbooba said the people need to support her party wholeheartedly in the forthcoming elections to establish a new a system of hope in the state so that we could end this growth stagnation, corruption and unemployment among our youth and will create a congenial atmosphere for the resolution of Kashmir issue. “Our agenda is a combination of political process along with good governance,” she said and complimented the youth for their huge support in the LS polls and appealed to them to gear up for the upcoming assembly elections. “PDP will give priority to the youth and leave no stone unturned for creating avenues for their dignified livelihood,” said Mehbooba.
