Recently, Democratic Governor David Paterson of New York has addressed the candidacy of Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. Paterson himself is a support of Clinton’s candidacy to be US President, let alone the first female US President.
Paterson was the lieutenant governor to then-Governor Eliot Spitzer, who was linked to a high-profile prostitution ring. Spitzer ended up resigning from office as a result of the scandal. As a result of Spitzer’s resignation, Paterson ended up being the next governor let alone New York’s first black governor.
He himself is a figure that is well-liked and respected amongst both Democrats and Republicans. The resignation of Spitzer could be deemed as a blow to Clinton’s candidacy. Paterson himself gave his support to Clinton. Now, he has stepped forward and addressed the fate of Clinton’s candidacy.
Paterson said that Clinton’s push of trying to get the full delegations of Florida and Michigan counted gives the indication that she is desperate. Still, Paterson said he would continue to support Clinton’s candidacy. However, Paterson bluntly said that Clinton was getting desperate.
Florida and Michigan were stripped of their delegates by holding their primaries too early in violation of rules set by the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Clinton won both states; but, they were not counted. The issue of Florida and Michigan was not talked again until a few weeks ago.
DNC Chair Howard Dean said that there will be a compromise reached on May 31. He said that it was not the voters fault. Dean blamed the politicians for allowing the fiasco to happen. Also, Dean said that the other forty-eight states must be respected for following the rules.
In that regard, Paterson said that none of the Democratic presidential hopefuls objected to the penalty. Paterson said, that included Clinton.
