The Chief Minister. Omar Abdullah has said that the PDP – BJP nexus which came to fore during the recently held election of MLCs, is aimed at dividing the people in the name of region and religion to grab power.
Addressing public meetings at Kotranka and Manjakote in Rajouri District, here today Mr. Abdullah said that NC-Congress coalition will work for strengthening the love bonds existing in the state between various sections of the society since ages. “The secular fabric and amity is the characteristics of Jammu and Kashmir and we will uphold it fully”, he asserted.
Mr. Omar Abdullah said that the coalition government shares common agenda of returning permanent peace in the state and accelerating pace of progress in all fields of life. He said the focus of attention of the government is on faster development of the crucial sectors like power, education, road connectivity and health. He said employment to educated youth is the priority of the government and various measures have been initiated to find out ways and means to address the unemployment crisis. He said besides creating jobs in government services, private sector is also being roped in to create employment for the skilled and unskilled youth.
The Chief Minister said that besides creation of jobs, employability and human resource development have been declared as thrust areas and vocationalization of education encouraged to enhance the employment orbit for youth.
Mr. Abdullah asked the people to remain vigilant against those who are out to wedge apart them for vote bank politics and appealed to remain united and work for the success of coalition candidates. He said in the success of NC-Congress coalition candidates lies the success of the people.
Addressing the gatherings the Union Minster for Water Resources Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz and MoS in PM’s Office Mr. Prithviraj Chauhan highlighted the achievements of UPA government led by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh, said that UPA is the coalition capable of leading the country to new highs and bringing prosperity to all sections and areas of the country. They said Congress champions the cause of people especially poorer sections of the society and has always nurtured the secular principles. This party is the party of people and would continue to work for making the country more strong and prosperous, they added.
Mr. Soz and Mr. Chauhan said that UPA government has contributed a lot for the development and peace in Jammu and Kashmir and would continue to do so in future. They appealed the people to vote for coalition candidates for brighter future of the state.
Speaking to the public meetings, the Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmed reminded the people of the stupendous role of National Conference in the welfare of downtrodden sections of the society and said that the people living in far flung areas and mountains have always received due attention of National Conference led governments. He said only National Conference has worked for the upliftment of people living in far flung areas and will continue to do so in future.
Asking the people to vote for NC-Congress coalition candidates, Mr. Altaf said that only these parties were committed for the equitable development and amity.
The Provincial President J&K National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta, MLA Kr. Rachpal Singh, District President Vipan Pal Sharma, Ch. Liqat Ali, Advocate and other local leaders of NC and Congress were also present at the meetings.
