PDP imparted credibility to democratic process: Mehbooba

 

Srinagar, January 30 (Scoop News) – Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has said her party has a realistic and pragmatic vision that could transform the state into a dynamic and developed state and it has proven it credentials of ability to implement it.

Addressing Zonal committees of district Budgam today at Budgam she said “the performance of her party in coalition with congress for a brief period has set new standards of governance that helped the people to distinguish between good and bad governance”. Apart from members of district committee, all zonal committees and town committees a large number of prominent workers attended the meeting. Senior Leaders Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura,Aga Syed Mehmood, District president Saifudin Bhat, Zonal presidents Hussamudin Masoodi, Bashir Ah Bhat Youth gerenal secretary Nazir Yatoo, Mushtaq Shamim,and Molvi Maqbool also spoke on the occasion.

 Mehbooba said arrival of PDP on the scene had redefined the rules of politics in the state with the people getting for the first time an alternative to monopolistic forces. This she said had introduced elements of performance audit, political accountability and governance consciousness and no body could now take people for granted as dumb driven cattle who could be exploited on emotional insecurities and hollow slogans. “Now each elected representative has to account for his or her performance and fairy tales are not going to get votes. We have to perform to win the trust of people or perish,” she said. She pointed out that the participation of PDP in election process with a solid agenda for resolution and good governance had imparted credibility to the electoral process in the state for the first time since independence though the process was yet to be fully cleansed of manipulation and ‘tactical management’ to make people fully realize in its efficacy as a democratic tool to safeguard their rights and change destinies.
