PDP Patron’s rehabilitation by BJP is ‘Power Lust’ – Tanvir to Mehbooba

Jammu, December 20, (Scoop News)- The Committee on Environment (EC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Friday directed the concerned departments to identify land for setting up of Common Bio Waste Treatment Facility (CBWTF) at Kashmir and Jammuto ensure scientific disposal of wastes generated in hospitals.
The Committee, which met under the Chairmanship of MLA, M.Y. Tarigami here today, discussed the Action Taken Report on the recommendations and observation pertaining to the Health and Medical Education Department contained in 4th Report of the Committee on Environment of Assembly in general and the development of CBWTF and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in the two capital cities in particular.
The Committee members Javaid Mustafa Mir, YashpaulKaundal, Mohammad Kahalil Band, M.Y. Shah, Rachpaul Singh and DurgaDass attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions.
Taking serious note for delay in acquiring the land for setting up of CBWTF, the Chairman directed the Secretary Health and Medical Education Department to coordinate with State Pollution Control Board and the Revenue Authorities and concerned Deputy Commissioners to identify suitable sites and furnish a detailed report in this regard to the committee.
Threadbare discussion was also held on causes of Water Pollution in the state, particularly in the major urban centers of the state. The Committee directed the concerned to prevent sewer and waste water to flow into the water bodies.
Detailed discussion was also held on disposal of infectious and non-infectious Bio- Medical Waste.
It was informed in the meeting that the Department of Health and Medication Education has received a proposal from a USA based company marketed by Trade International, New Delhi- a new non-burn technology known as “Positive Impact Waste Solution” for disposing off all kinds of wastes generated in the hospitals, which is approved by the Central Pollution Control Board and patent Certificate granted by GoI.
Among others, Chairman SPCB, Vinod Ranjan, PCCF Wild Life, A.K. Singh, APCCF and Director Environment and Remote Sensing, Suresh Chug, Deputy Commissioner Budgam , Khursheed Ahmed, Principal Medical College Srinagar, Dr. Rafiq Ahmed and other officers of H&ME, Planning, SPCB and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
