Srinagar, April 11 (Scoop News) –Peoples Democratic Party has taken a strong exception to a contractual government employee issuing statements on behalf of the chief minister against senior political leaders and the main opposition party. Referring to the meaningless but impolite and indecent diatribe by chief minister’s political secretary against senior leaders of the party the PDP youth wing general secretary Engr Nazir Yatoo today asked the government to explain as to how a contractual employee was allowed to issue political statements. "Government must come out with an explanation as to how political tirades are carried out by a contractual employee who gets his salary from the state treasury" he said.
In a statement here Yatoo said Tanvir Sadiq’s only claim to political genius so far has been his election as a corporator in the Srinagar Municipal corporation on PDP ticket. He said it would always baffle even friends of the NC as to what political assistance he could provide to chief minister of a state like J&K but that would have been an issue only for the party to resolve if the political secretary was not receiving a fat monthly salary of Rs 80000 apart from other perks like a fleet of cars and official residence. Given such ‘high calibre’ political assistance at such a heavy cost to state exchequer it is no wonder the chief minister has been functioning the way he is, Yatoo added.
Yatoo said the fact that the chief minister has to fall back upon a contractual employee for his defence is indeed pathetic but it has added another bad precedent in governance under Omar Abdullah. National Conference, he said has always been treating the state as a private estate but the brazen use of office as in the case of Tanvir Sadiq only exposes the party’s depleting intellectual and political resources.
Yatoo said appointment of people like Tanvir through the back door on huge salaries is an affront to the large number of unemployed youth in the state. He said where as a former corporator who deserted his party is paid the salary and perks of the chief secretary of the state only to abuse his benefactors, highly qualified young people who come through competition in the government are paid Rs 1500 for five years before they are regularised. He said the millions that are paid to Tanvir and nearly 300 retired employees on their re employment could have been enough to engage hundreds of unemployed youth but Omar Abdullah’s claims on this and all other fronts have proved false.
Yatoo said in Chadoora PHE division alone as many as 394 daily wagers had been retrenched on the pretext of non availability of funds. On the other hand government finds no dearth of funds for purchasing luxury cars, helicopters and spending crores on houses of ministers.
