Refuting the allegation of PDP regarding the alleged kickbacks by the Chief Minister in the allotment of Ratle Power Project, the Minister said that the bidding process in the allotment of this power project has been most transparent and open. He said the second bidder Tata Company is on record having expressed satisfaction in the allotment of the power project. “The company in a letter to the Chief Minister has mentioned that the bidding process for the project has in fact been benchmark worth emulation for the allotment of hydro electric power projects in the entire country”, he said.
Reacting on the allegation of construction of Rs. 20 crore residential house by the Chief Minister, Rather said the total estimated cost of the house is only Rs. two crore of which Rs. 1.50 crore has been expended so far. The Minister also refuted allegation of the People’s Democratic Party regarding taking away some of the antiques from Tosha Khana, the Minister said that the accusation is totally false and far from truth. He said none of the antiques has been taken away from the Tosha Khana and the same, he said, could be verified at any point of time.
About involvement of corruption of a Minister as reported in a section of press, Rather said that Government has directed Vigilance Organization to investigate the matter and report. Meanwhile, he said the newspaper must come up with solid proof and evidence regarding the corruption charges it has raised.
The Minister while reacting on the charges of withdrawal of Rs. 26 crore out of CM’s Secret Fund said that the total amount of this fund is not even half of the alleged amount, which remains at the disposal. He said the question of withdrawing Rs. 26 crore out of this fund is thus simplify ridiculous and far-fetched.
About the allegation against another Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani regarding setting up hospital by a doctor, Rather said that the particular Doctor has said that he had generalized the issue and never named Nasir. The Minister said that Nasir has already received an email from the Doctor in which he has apologized for his remarks against him.
Rather said that it was very unfortunate that the opposition party has stooped so low that it is resorting to politicking at a time when it should have cooperated with the Government in restoring peace and stability in the State. He said it was the time for putting in collective efforts to mitigate sufferings of the people and remove them out of present uncertainty.
The Minister accused the opposition of making political capital in the prevalent situation to further its narrow political ends. He said PDP is vainly striving to destabilize the elected Government, which has been mandated by the people to rule for the full term. He said the opposition party actually aims at facilitating Governor’s rule in the State and for the purpose it has unleashed baseless and unsubstantiated allegation campaign.
Meanwhile, the Minister said the Chief Minister would file defamatory suit against the PDP to fight the baseless allegations in the court of law. He said both civil and criminal suits would be initiated to seek justice.
