Srinagar, July 08, (Scoop News)-Acknowledging the increase in the frequency of train service between Banihal and Budgam the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday said it would bring much needed relief to the commuters.
In a statement the party president, Mehbooba Mufti said, however, the frequency needs to be increased on Badgam-Baramula line also to ease pressure in North Kashmir, as well.
She said it is encouraging that Railway Ministry has responded to this long felt need which was brought to the notice of railway minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, last month, by her and her colleagues, in the Lok Sabha, Muzzafar Hussain Baig and Tariq Hameed Karra.
Mehbooba said the party has taken up other issues related to the expansion of railways in Jammu & Kashmir, in the areas like Poonch-Rajouri, Kupwara and Chenab Valley, as well, as the need for completing the Katra-Banihal construction of railway line on priority.
The PDP chief, who represents South Kashmir in the Lok Sabha, said the projects will be pursued with zeal in the parliament and with the railway ministry to upgrade transportation in the state which is faced with such communication hurdles as could be removed only through railways.
