Srinagar, September 3 (Scoop News) -Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today Stated that his party has played a historical role in restoring peace in the Indian Sub-Continent with its agenda of peace and reconciliation. He said that his party’s pro people polices have yielded encouraging results.
Sayeed said PDP would continue to pursue its visionary agenda to change destiny of the people and also to make Jammu and Kashmir an Island of peace. "Although we had only 16 members in our kitty but it was result of our convictions that we convinced successive regimes at Delhi to take some bold decisions to restore peace in this region especially to improve relations with Pakistan," he said while talking to Javed Ahmad Mirchal, a noted social and political activist from Karnah who joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today.
The PDP patron said his party had scripted a new chapter of peace and development in the State. He said that July 28, 1999 was landmark in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir because PDP was formed on that very day and this party has revived people’s faith in the democratic institutions. "It was PDP that restored peoples’ faith in democracy through fairness and transparency in its governance," he remarked.
Besides, Sayeed, party president Mehbooba Mufti, party senior leader and former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig welcomed the new entrant into the party fold, saying that his joining will add colours to the party activities in North Kashmir.
"It is our pragmatic approach and political agenda which attracts people to our party fold. We are committed to a holistic development of the entire State especially its far flung areas which have sofar been neglected in every respect," Sayeed said while welcoming Mirchal on his joining the party.
Extending a warm welcome to Mirchal, Mehbooba termed his joining the party as continuation of a positive trend that augured well for the future of the sate and its politics. She said it was heartening that dedicated political activists like Mirchal who are committed to bring a positive change in the state through clean and transparent politics have shown their liking for the PDP agenda and are joining the party.
On this occasion, Mirchal who contested 2008 assembly elections, observed that he was motivated by the PDP’s pro people agenda especially its three year performance and its political vision for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
"I have no words to count the performance of PDP. From development to fair recruitment, opening of Srinagar-Muzafarabad road to creation of conducive atmosphere for the peace process, establishing universities, to opening of new colleges, higher secondary schools and primary schools and above all bringing a significant change in the atmosphere of terror—the all round performance of this party has changed my political vision so I joined the party," said Mirchal, a former Socialistic Democratic Party leader.
He pledged that he along with his workers will put in his efforts to disseminate the PDP agenda which focuses on a message of peace and reconciliation.
