Jammu,March 19 (Scoop News) -Calling upon the people to strengthen Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),its chief Mehbooba Mufti said that her party would not allow NC-Congress coalition government to continue its anti-people policies.“We have enough strengthen to control this government from taking anti-people steps”, she said and asserted that due to support of the common masses PDP has been emerged as a biggest political forces in the State.
Addressing a public meeting in Marh assembly segment in Jammu, PDP chief said that the NC led coalition has lost its credibility as the ruling party has reneged on all promises made with the people. “Instead of come up to the expectations of the people this regime has been trying to hoodwink the masses by giving confusing statements”, she said and added that achievements of the regime confined only on papers as this dispensation was more particular about issuing press statements and conducting photo sessions to befool the people”.
She reminded the gathering that previous regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has not only carved out a path of equitable development but also empowered all regions and sub-regions of the State. “Decision making powers were trickled down at grass root level to inculcate a feeling belongingness among all sections of the society”, she said and regretted that present dispensation led by National Conference has failed to carry forward that policy of equitable development and equal participation.
Instead of giving equal treatments to all regions, this government has been adopting discriminating attitude towards certain areas”, she alleged and told the gathering that some pockets were deliberately ignored by the ruling coalition. “Constituencies represented by opposition are ignored in developmental and other related activities”, she observed and regretted that present government especially the ruling National Conference leadership has been acting invindictive manner.
“In the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led coalition a number of parties were part of that government but no decision was taken without taking partners into confidence”, she said, adding, “during the previous regime there was a sense of belongingness among all coalition partners but the present government lacks the same”. She, however, attributed that the National Conference leadership has been taking unilateral decisions on important issues and other partners feeling ignored.
Mehbooba said that PDP-Congress regime has set vibrant and progressive standard of government in which all regions and sub-regions were equally involved. She, however, present government has failed to carry forward that standard. “Instead of pursuing the agenda of development and reconciliation, the present government has been indulged in discriminatory policies”, she pointed and added that people had started comparing the performance of the present government with the PDP led regime which augured well for democracy. “ Inability of the NC led government to respond to the problems of the masses could have a negative fall out on the situation in the sensitive state”, she observed, adding, “it is matter of concern that this government has failed to learn a lesson from the blunders committed by the previous NC regimes in the State”.
