Peace an important component for a good tourist season:Chib

Srinagar, February 16 (Scoop News) – Hoping that the pass out Skiing Trainees from Gulmarg will prove ambassadors of peace not only for the valley but to whole of the state, the minister for Agriculture  Gh Hassan Mir said youth have to now shoulder tremendous responsibilities in the implementation of policies and programmes envisaging prosperity and development of all the three regions of the state.

             Mir was addressing a function organised by JK Sports Council at Gulmarg today for pass out Skiing trainees. Minister for Youth Services & Sports and Medical Education  R. S. Chib was the chief guest on the award and certificate distribution function.

            The Agriculture minister said that the sports training of various nature should be arranged for all the children of the state on broad based lines and prepare them for state as well as national level sports competitions.  Mir complimented the children for completing the course despite heavy snowfall and children. He said the hidden potential and talent of our youth needs to be channelized in a proper manner.

            Addressing the function on the occasion, minister for Youth Service & Sports and Medical Education  R. S. Chib said that he during his previous visit had made a commitment with Tangmarg people for providing 15 days course to 30 children of the age group of 9 to 14 years through JK Sports Council. He hoped that these pass out trainees would take message of peace to their families and the respective areas.

             Chib said peace is an important component of all round property and development adding that people should also put in their efforts for maintaining peace and termed it as an important component for a good tourist season. He said lakhs of people are directly or indirectly connected with the tourism and this sector is the backbone of our economy. He said coalition Govt. led by Chief Minister  Omar Abdullah has accorded priority not only to sports and tourism but also to Education, Health, Road connectivity, Power, Water supply tec.

            Later, the minister  G H Mir and R. S. Chib gave away awards to those qualified for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in basic, intermediate and advance skiing courses. Awards were also distributed among 1st three position holders in slalom. This was the first course of this year and 8th programme conducted so far.

            A large number of people were also present on the occasion.

            A deputation of JK Sports Council also met the ministers and put-forth their demands. The ministers assured those would be considered on merit.
