Srinagar, June 02 (Scoop News) — Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that peace and normalcy is must to flourish tourism industry in the State, adding that concerted efforts of the Government has shown good results towards increasing tourist influx to the valley.
Speaking at a function organized by Travel Agent Society of Kashmir (TASK) to apprise their suggestions and demands for promotion of tourism in the valley at Dal View Taj Hotel here today, Mr Jora said that during last over two years focused attention has been paid on development of new tourism spots, besides upgradation of existing infrastructure to facilitate the visiting tourists.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Mr Farooq Ahmad Shah, President TASK, Mr Abdul Khaliq Wangnoo, Vice President TASK, Mr Zaffar Bokuto and other members of the association, besides senior officers of tourism department were present on the occasion.
The Minister said the stakeholders in particular and civil society in general have to play their role towards maintaining complete peace and normalcy for showcasing states’ tourism potential outside the State.
He said a vigorous publicity campaign has been launched by the Government in and outside the country for showcasing state’s rich tourism potential, adding that road shows, exhibitions, travel marts have been organized at various capital cities of the country besides aboard to attract more and more tourists to visit the valley. He said the State Tourism Department has also engaged a reputed advertising agency O&M to publicize the State’s tourism.
Mr Jora said that Government is encouraging all those stakeholders who desire to make tourism industry their livelihood. He said incentives and soft loans are being provided to those who want to set up their ventures under this sector. He said the Government would also facilitate those Tour and Travel Operators who intend to participate in publicity campaigns in and outside the country.
Mr Jora said during last over two years a number of exemplary steps have been taken to promote varied tourism potential of the State. He said focused attention has been given to upgrade infrastructure facilities, besides promotion of adventure, heritage, pilgrim and golf tourism remained priority of the Government.
Responding to the demands of the TASK, the Minister said that online ticketing for Gondola riding would be introduced very soon.
