The New York Times reported today that an internal Pentagon memo details the discovery of over $1 trillions in mineral deposits in Afghanistan, including cobalt, copper, gold, iron and lithium.
The report suggest that Afghanistan could become the "Saudi Arabia of lithium," and that "the potential is so great that officials and executives in the industry believe it could attract heavy investment even before mines are profitable."
