This Sunday is the Celebration of Pentecost.
Pentecost is as much a Jewish celebration as it is a Christian celebration.
To the Jews the Hebrews, Pentecost is a time of celebration celebrating the day that Almighty God gave the Torah to Israel. The Torah is the Hebrew’s Bible containing the first (5) five books of the Old Testament from Genesis to Deuteronomy.
The Christian Celebration of Pentecost falls on the same day as the Jewish Pentecost.
The Christian celebration represents the day that Almighty God sends down the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles of Christ Jesus, delivering to them and to all Christian believers the Seven Gifts of the Spirit which are received by all, and activated as the Holy Spirit discerns.
The Gifts are as follows: Knowledge, Wisdom, Faith, Prophecy, Discernment of Spirits, Speaking in Tongues, and Interpretation of tongues. Every person has each one of these gifts, but the Holy Spirit must activate them before one can use them as God Wills.
It is interesting to note that both the Hebrew and Christian celebrations are for the same reason. Almighty God shares a part of himself with God’s people, be they Jew or Gentile Hebrew or Christian.
Even the non-believer, the Atheist receives these gifts from God. The first two knowledge and Wisdom are possibly the only two activated in them but still they have the others, and only the Holy Spirit is aware of when God says they should be activated for each one.
