There are many people throughout the world searching for "true" happiness but they cannot find it in anything they do or anywhere they go. They’re constantly asking themselves, "What do they have to do to find happiness and to put joy in their lives?"
They pursue, create, accomplish, and travel but happiness doesn’t find its way into their hearts and souls. They’re left dangling with an urge to find contentment and a calming peace within their souls.
Allow me to ask you readers, "Is there total happiness to be found by a person on this earth?"
According to the Book of Ecclesiastes the key word is "vanity", "The futile emptiness of trying to be happy apart from God. In Ecclesiastes 1: 1; 1: 9; 1: 1 -2, The Preacher (traditionally taken to be Solomon, the wisest, richest, most influential king in Israel’s history) looks at life "under the sun" and, from the human perspective, declares it all to be empty. Power, popularity, prestige, pleasure, nothing can fill the God-shaped void in man’s life but God Himself."
People God’s word is telling people true happiness is found through commitment to Him, and by living according to His word, and through the acceptance of Him into their lives, and through
communications with Him by prayers people will find a different perspective about their lives and it will take on a whole new meaning and purpose granting them happiness and joy.
People who do not know God and are skeptical of His word will not have the gift of happiness and joy from God. It’s my belief they’ll continue various different avenues to achieve happiness but it won’t come. The Bible tells people in John 16: 24, "Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."
This plainly allows people to be able to perceive that God is there when Christians go to Him for help. I know that I have struggled many times in my life to find happines prior to accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior; and I would have a quenching urge to find happiness and I’d go on shopping sprees, buy automobiles, buy jewelry, buy and change homes, and constantly searching to fulfill a nagging emptiness that consumed me everyday of my life. I did this for many years, and I’ll say, "It wasn’t a pleasant experience."
The Bible tells us too in Psalm 22: 9 – 10, "But you are He that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was upon my Mother’s breasts. I was cast upon you from the womb: you are my God from my Mother’s belly."
In the Bible in Galatians 5: 22 – 23 tells us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
The above verses are assuring to me that people do suffer trials and tribulations in their daily lives but when they have God to lead and to guide them, they’re in His light and He’ll turn the darkness in theie lives into light and lift them up and out of a pit of hell to be able to rejoice and find happiness in life once again.
It is my belief that people who live a Christian life will always be under God’s umbrella of happiness at the end of every turmoil and they’ll never be left without it. People’s faith and belief in Jesus Christ strengthens their knowledge of His word, knowing He is with them and hears their pleas for help.
God’s word does not deceive anyone and if they lean on His word He’ll guide them accordingly as it is stated in Galatians 5: 25, "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."
My surge of an urgent urge for happiness departed from me the day I accepted Jesus Christ into my life, and I can say, "I’m content, happy, and full of joy." I do have turmoils in life but God is always there to bring me through the storms to smile again.
I’ll end this article with these Bible verses that grant me happiness in knowing I’ve found joy and elation through God’s presence in my life. Isaiah 26: 3 – 4 tells us, "You keep God in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because He trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."
