Jammu, September 21 (Scoop News)- Reiterating resolve of his party to strengthen relations between different regions and sub-regions of the State, patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that due to its convictions and commitments the PDP has emerged as a credible and strong political force in all the regions of the State.
Addressing a function to welcome Dinesh Gupta, the newly elected president of the Jammu Citizen Cooperative Bank (JCCB), who along with hundreds of his supporters joined PDP today, Mufti expressed satisfaction that PDP’s agenda of development was now seen positively not just in Kashmir Valley but in Jammu and Ladakh regions also. “It is really a matter of satisfaction for our party that people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions have connecting themselves with PDP and this party has earned crediblity and faith of the people of all regions and sub-regions of the state”, he said and added that people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were also treating PDP as their real voice because leadership of this party has earned faith and trust of the people by its convictions and commitments.
Pointing towards joining of Dinesh Gupta and his supporters in the party, he said that overwhelming response to party from all regions of the State was a clear indication that people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were looking towards PDP as only credible political force of the State.
“The formation of the PDP in the year 1999 was a turning point in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. In a short span of time, PDP has earned credibility of the state’s people and connected itself with the masses. The party has emerged as the biggest political force of the state”, he said and added that it was a historical fact that it was the PDP that revived the people’s confidence of in democratic institutions.
Mufti reiterated that attaining power was the only aim of PDP. “We want to bridge gap between different regions and to facilitate strengthening emotional relations among residents of all regions and sub-regions”, he said.
Further reiterating resolve of his party to address aspirations of all sections of the society, Mr said that PDP has cemented relations between different regions and sub-regions of the state. Mufti said that since its formation PDP has been pursuing the agenda of unity to bridge the gap between different regions of the state. “The PDP, through its policies, has succeeded in strengthening relations among different regions and sub-regions of the State”, he said and added that PDP led regime has carved out a path of equitable development in the state. “It was only during the PDP led regime that all regions of the State were political empowered and equal treatment was given to all areas in developmental and other activities”, he said, adding, “PDP’s progressive yielded encouraging results in the State”.
PDP patron reiterated that attaining power was not the only agenda of PDP. “We want to change the present system and to establish a new system where every sections of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for growth and development”, he asserted and sought cooperation of the people to fulfill this progressive and pro-people agenda of PDP.
Welcoming Dinesh Gupta in to the party fold, PDP patron hope that with his joining PDP would be strengthened in the state in general and Jammu region in particular. He advised Dinesh Gupta to work for strenghening the institution of JCCB which has about 20,000 shareholders.
Speaking on the occasion Dinesh Gupta said that he was impressed by the polices and programmes of the party. He highlighted achievements of PDP coalition in the State and said that it was only during his three year regime equal treatment was given to all regions and sub-regions of the State. “Before formation of PDP led regime in 2002, there were complaints of discrimination and step motherly treatments with some regions”, he recalled and hastened to add, “PDP-Congress regime had not only removed these discrimination but also empowered Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions equally”.
He further added that previous PD led regime had brought complete transparency in the governance and created an atmosphere for accelerating developmental activities.
Dinesh Gupta, who joined PDP today, has won elections of the board of director of the prestigious JCCB which comprised of about 20000 voters. Gupta was elected as chairman of the Bank on Thursday by the newly elected board of directors.
Sardar Rangil Singh, Sardar Trilok Singh Bajwa, Thakur Balbir Singh, Sayeed Asgar Ali, Ved Mahajan, Falail Singh, Rajinder Singh Manhas, Dr Motyal, Sapna Gupta, Varinder Singh Sonu, Sheikh Mohammad Latif and others also spoke on the occasion.
