People this is being relayed to make readers aware of a newly sexually-transmitted superbug that has been discovered in Japan.
This sexually-transmitted superbug was discovered in a 31-year-old female sex worker in Japan. It is a strain of gonorrhea H041 and it is said to be an anti-resistant strain. Doctors are warning people that it could be more deadly than AIDS.
In a CNBC conversation with Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine, Christianson said, "This could be a lot worse than AIDS because of the bacteria which is more aggressive and it will affect more people in a more quicker manner. When a person gets gonorrhea from this type strain it could put them into septic shock or even death in a matter of days. It is very dangerous."
William Smith, executive director of National Coalition of STD Directors, added that: "This is an emergency situation; and as it moves forward, it will become more hazardous."
CNBC reported Smith is urging Congressional lawmakers to allocate an additional funding of $54 million to develop an antibiotic that is proficient enough for fighting H041; and also for the purpose of conducting a campaign to alert the public making them aware of this disease.
Smith also stated he is hopeful they’ll get the additional funding but it is not a certainty. He commented by saying, "I do know the resources are not available to fight this for now."
Christianson reported to CNBC that people should always practice safe sex; and any person starting a new sexual relationship needs to be tested along with their sexual mate. He stated that many people are not aware they have gonorrhea; and with this newer strain it is important for a person to find out before participating with a new sexual partner.
