I’ve known people throughout life who have gone years and never forgave a parent for a simple mistake, and I’ve also known siblings, who haven’t spoken to each other since they were teenagers. I cannot conceive how hard it must’ve been to carry around this load for years; and I often wonder if they can remember what they were mad about too.
If you’re a person who has been lugging around a heavy load and you want to rid yourself of it, sit down and make a list of the people you’ve committed a wrong to and then go to them and cite the wrong and ask their forgiveness. You’ll feel the biggest load lifted off your back and shoulders and you’ll find a renewal in your life.
The Holy Bible offers people verses for guidance, direction, and inspiration to forgive those whom we have ought’s against. In Matthew 6: 14 – 15 the Bible tells us, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Whenever people follow God’s word for guidance to forgive others, it provides people a new lease on their lives and allows them to have a desire to move forward in their lives. People who carry wrongs in their hearts and souls they’ll find a worried mind and physical tiredness that’s hard to endure. Forgiveness offers contentment and a release of the hatred, bitterness, and spite that has been living on the inside of a person.
The Bible tells us in Matthew 18: 20 – 21 – 22, "For where two or three are together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive them? Till seven times? Jesus said to him, I say not unto you, until seven times: but, until seventy times seven."
God’s word is explicit in telling people to forgive others and they should meet the person they’ve offended face to face and ask for their forgiveness. Forgiveness equals a healing and it prevents depression and physical anguish over something a person has done or said to another person.
In 1 John 1: 9 the Bible tells people, "If they will confess their sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Isn’t it powerful to know God does forgive people of their sins, and by his example, people should ask for forgiveness when they’ve done a wrong to another person. When we’re able to forgive, life is renewed and a new day in life begins.
People will see the clouds in the sky differently and they’ll see life in a new perspective because all the darkness in their hearts has been erased and their slate has been wiped cleaned.
