People’s welfare governments prime concern: Rather

Srinagar, August 31 (Scoop News) – Saying that people of the State have pinned high hopes with the present dispensation headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, the Minister for Finance & Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today enjoined upon the administration and field agencies to reach out to people at their door steps to redress their grievances. He said people’s welfare and uplift is the prime concern of the Government and their will be no compromise on it.

Addressing a public gathering, after laying foundation stones of Rs. 50 lakh Govt. High School building and Rs. 20 lakh Health Centre building at Chraripora, Pakherpora in district Budgam, Rather vowed to come upto the expectations of the people adding that all possible resources are being pooled to meet their demands.

Rather cautioned the people about the machination of defeated elements who just to satiate their vested interests have launched a malicious vilification campaign against senior leaders of National Conference (NC). "But they will meet the same humiliation and shame as in past". He said we are intricately connected with the people at gross roots level both ideologically as well as emotionally and those who want to create ill-will against NC leaders live in fool’s paradise. He said people are the real fountain head of power and they have reposed their trust and faith on us repeatedly. "Infact, these elements are unnerved with our growing popularity among the masses," Rather added. He said seeking a bright future for the budding youth of the State is our mission which will be perused with full vigor and strength. He advised the educated youth to avail benefits of various employments generating programmes of the government adding that J&K Bank has been asked to provide hassle free credit facilities to the un-employed youth.

He said J&K Bank is opening 100 more business units during the current fiscal to provide lending facilities to the people at their door steps for generating business and economic activities in nook and corner of the State.

Responding to the demands of the people, the Minister said a comprehensive Irrigation scheme for orchards in kandi cum karewa belt of Chrar-i-shrief constituency including Chraripora, Karpora, Shour, Ratherpoa and Dalwan will be formulated to give boost to the fruit business in the area. He said the road from Malapora to Kanidajan will be fully macadamized shortly adding that Dalwan- Chraripora road has recently been macadamized at cost of Rs. 60 lakhs.he said basic objective of his touring different areas alongwith district administration was to reach out to the people at their door steps to take stock of their problems and to redress the grievances.

District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Khurshid Ahmed Shah and concerned district officers and engineers accompanied the Minister during the tour.
