Samuel Peter, WBC heavyweight champion has declared his readiness to fight the Klitschko brothers, saying that he executed his plan to perfection last weekend to win the WBC heavyweight title.
Peter unleashed a fierce barrage of power punches on Russian Oleg Maskaev at the end of the sixth round, forcing the referee to stop the scheduled 12-round bout.
Peter, 30-1, wants to avenge his only professional defeat, a unanimous points loss to current IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitshcko in September 2005, during which he had knocked the Ukrainian down three times.
The WBC, however, has said Vitali Klitschko, an emeritus champion who relinquished his crown because of injury, is next in line to fight Peter.
"Klitschko’s next," bellowed Peter. "I’m ready for him tomorrow."
When asked which Klitschko, Peter said: "I’m ready for both of them."
Peter, 27, said he was confident from the start that the 39-year-old Maskaev could not stand up to him.
"He came at me twice, but I knew when I got him, he wouldn’t be able to take it.
"I knew I had him in the first round. I tried to set him up. I controlled the fight well. I used power and pressure to control the fight. I set him up and then I cracked him up."
